Description
When?
First introductory weekend takes place in March 23 – 25 (starting Fri at 7pm / finishing Sun at 2pm).
Where?
At the Open Space centre in Trpoměchy 29, Slaný, Czech Republic. Trpoměchy is a small village on the edge of Prague’s Metropolitan area. Easily accessible from Prague’s Václav Havel Airport (15 minutes) it’s an ideal destination for participants flying from abroad.
What is it about?
Many of us have busy lives full of appointments, travelling from place to place and surrounded by technology which can draw us away from our innate human connection to nature.
In these introductory weekend workshops we will be exploring some techniques, crafts and activities that can help reconnect us to ourselves, to each other and to the natural world around us.
Core routines of nature connection:
These “core routines” of nature connection encompass a wide range of aspects including:
Sensory games and activities: To expand all our senses beyond the eyesight-dominant way of our society.
Crafting: Using natural materials to create useful items, developing skills and familiarity with the materials.
Fire making: Using primitive techniques such as fire-by-friction and flint-and-steel.
Sit spot: Beginning the journey of intimate personal connection to a specific place and learning to relax and just “be” in nature.
Storytelling: Developing our reflection of our experiences through the art of storytelling.
The introduction to these and more techniques are very useful in their own and these weekends stand alone in their own right. The intention is to gather together a group of people who wish to continue the journey to a deeper level in an ongoing course beginning autumn 2018. The introductory courses are not prerequisites for the longer course, although they would be of benefit.
About the facilitator:
Daniel Yabsley lives and works on a Biodynamic farm (Old Plowhatch Farm) in Southest England. He studied survival living and nature connection through Trackways Survival School and the Art of Mentoring Nature Connection programmes. Following his study he has been working with groups of children and adults in nature on regular basis. He is also a storyteller and works with stories alongside teaching various aspects of survival living and nature connection through games and activities.
How much is it?
The course fee is £90/CZK 2.500 including food and accommodation.
