Tension, Stress and Trauma Management Techniques
Say yes to life and live fully each day
This weekend weaves together TRE [Tension and Trauma Release Exercises], and other tools and techniques that gives you a complete package to take home in order to manage stress, tension, anxiety and trauma and lead a life full of possibilities, health and happiness.
…
Tension, stress and trauma are all stored in the body’s physiology. We are born with an inbuilt automatic defence response mechanism that keeps us safe in the face of danger, and propels us into a state of fight, flight or freeze when needed. If we’ve experienced an overwhelming event in our lives we can sometimes get stuck in the defence cascade. In addition to this a build up of stress and tension can also lead to the same physiology within the body. The aim of TRE is to down regulate the nervous system and bring the body back into a state of balance and calm. TRE can be most effective in a group setting where we seek out other human beings to find safety.
We will explore other revolutionary movement practices that enables us to become more conscious of our patterns of contraction within the body. Through simple games and movement exercises, we can work to identify and intentionally release unnecessary blockages. We can also learn to move with flow, to be in coherence with our own energy and the energy around us.
The other key piece to this weekend is getting to know vital connection practices that enable individuals to thrive in a healthy culture. We will share a number of simple habits and practical tools that can easily be woven into a busy life that help to enable people to live a life filled with hope, connection and with purpose.
Susan Kelly / About Me
Growing up as a teenager I saw a few of my friends go through periods of mental ill health. Watching from the sidelines was very frustrating as I couldn’t seem to help them. Years later as a Physical Education teacher I began to see an increase in the numbers of students in schools suffer from anxiety, stress and, unknown to me at the time, demonstrate the symptoms of suffering from trauma.
It was by chance that I came across Trauma Release Exercises on a holiday retreat. This was a physical practice of undertaking seven straightforward exercises to fatigue the muscles in the body and then allowing the body to shake. I was immediately taken by the simplicity and power of the technique.
On my return home I immediately set about becoming a provider of TRE, and have been teaching people for several years now. The main benefit of TRE is that it is designed as a self help tool. Once a provider can see that you are safe whilst shaking you can do this in the comfort of your own home by yourself.
